Taking photos is fun. But showing them on paper is also important. You need the right paper to make your pictures look sharp and bright. Two good choices are Inkjet Photo Paper and Papier Glace Double Face. These papers help your printer put ink on the page the right way. They stop ink from spreading or making messy spots. They also help you get the right colors.
Inkjet Photo Paper has a special coating on top. This coating soaks up ink evenly. So you do not get lines or empty spots on your picture. The paper comes in different weights. Heavy paper does not curl much. That makes it easy to put in a frame or store in a box. Light paper is okay for test prints, but heavy paper is better for final photos.
You can also pick different finishes. Matte finish does not shine. Semi-gloss has a little shine. Glossy finish is very shiny. Each finish changes how your picture looks. Glossy paper makes colors pop. Dark areas look deeper. Bright areas look brighter. Matte paper is good if you do not want a reflection from lights or windows.
The back side is plain. If you try to print on the back, the ink will soak in too fast and look bad. So only print on the coated side. Your printer should know which side is up. Look for a mark or a curl to find the right side.

Papier Glace Double Face is a special type of photo paper. The words mean “glossy paper with two faces” in French. This paper is glossy on both sides. So you can print on the front and on the back. Both sides hold ink well. Both sides give you the same bright colors and sharp details.
This is very useful for some projects. For example, you can make a photo book. Put one picture on the front of a page and another picture on the back. You do not need two separate sheets. You also save paper. Another good use is a portfolio for your best photos. You can show twice as many pictures in the same number of pages. Promotional cards or brochures also work well with double-sided glossy paper.
Papier Glace Double Face is usually thick. Thick paper does not bend or curl. It stays flat when you print it. It also stays flat when you put it in an album. The glossy coating on both sides makes colors look very rich. The white of the paper is very bright. So your photos look like they come from a professional print shop.
These features make it easy to create photo books, portfolios, or pages with many small photos. Every page looks the same because both sides are glossy.
Q: Can I print on both sides of regular Inkjet Photo Paper?
A: No. Regular Inkjet Photo Paper is only coated on one side. The other side will soak up ink badly. It will look blurry and messy. You need Papier Glace Double Face for two-sided printing.
Q: How do I store paper I have not used yet?
A: Keep the paper flat in a dry place. Leave it in the original bag. Close the bag tightly. Do not bend the paper. Do not let it get wet or sit in a hot room.
Q: Does glossy paper take longer to dry than matte paper?
A: Yes. Glossy paper holds ink on top of the coating. So it stays wet longer. Matte paper soaks ink in fast. Always give glossy prints extra drying time. For double-sided prints, give even more time before you flip the paper.
Q: What should I watch out for when I frame a glossy print?
A: Use an acid-free mat or backing. That stops damage over time. Do not let the glossy side touch the glass directly. The glass can stick to the print if it gets hot or humid. Leave a small gap with a mat. Or use a frame with a spacer.
Q: Can I print many copies in a row with these papers?
A: Yes, you can do bulk printing. But check that your printer can handle thick paper. Some printers have a straight paper path for thick media. Also, let each print dry before you put the next one on top. If you stack wet prints, they will ruin each other.
